Incumbent Angeles City (AC) Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., along with 33 barangay captains across the city endorsed Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial candidate Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr. at the Angeles City Hall on April 3, Thursday.
During the courtesy visit, Abalos shared his intention to remove value-added tax on electricity and support the establishment of a comprehensive assistance program for farmers, which includes “easier access to loans, reduced land tax, expanded crop insurance, and educational aid for their children”.
Among the AC officials who welcomed the senatorial candidate were ABC President Danilo Nacu, Secretary to the Mayor Raffy Lazatin, City Administrator Atty. Willie Rivera, and Angeles City Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office (ACEDIPO) Head Irish Bonus-Llego.
Running under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s slate, the former Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary also faced scrutiny over various issues—including a photo with Alice Guo posing with peace signs and smiling, and a lawsuit from former President Rodrigo Duterte for pursuing alleged trafficker Apollo Quiboloy, who is also running for a senate seat.
