HAU has established an Ad Hoc July 28, 2026, Incident Committee to assess the developing situation and oversee the university’s response following a campus incident involving a student, according to a memorandum circular released on July 30.
The memorandum, signed by University President Leopoldo Jaime N. Valdes, states that the committee will be activated to “ensure a timely and coordinated response to the recent incident and any related critical concerns.”
The committee’s responsibilities include assessing the current situation, recommending appropriate actions, and developing measures to address and prevent similar incidents in the future.
Valdes will serve as the committee’s chairperson, while Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) Dr. Al D. Biag will serve as vice chairperson. Joining them as members of the committee are:
- Associate Vice President of the Office of Student Services and Affairs (OSSA) – Dr. Monina M. Manalang
- Director of the Human Resource Management Office (HRMO) – Dr. Tyron W. Yap
- Executive Director of the Center for Student Development Office (CSDO) – Mr. Jeffrey Neil S. Nepomuceno
- Officer-in-Charge Director of Information Technology Services and Systems (ITSS) – Mr. Catalino P. Diaz
- Head of Campus Services, Venues, Logistics, and Printing – Ms. Imelda H. Ladrillo
- Director of the University Guidance Office – Ms. Norma N. Bulaclac
- Associate Director of Marketing and Creative Services – Ms. Maria Teresa N. Punsalan
- Officer of Data Privacy and Risk Management – Atty. Joana-Rose A. Coronel
- University Legal Counsel
Furthermore, the committee is tasked with ensuring timely communication with concerned stakeholders and coordinating with government agencies and emergency responders when necessary.
The committee will remain active only for the duration of the crisis, noting that it “shall be dissolved once the situation has been resolved.”
