For centuries, women’s stories have been written not with their voices, but through the pens of patriarchy—reduced to symbols, saints, or sinners.
Maria Clara, though born of fiction, became a mold which generations of Filipinas have been forced to fit.
In this regard, The Angelite proudly launches CLARA: The Women’s Month Special Issue—a chorus of voices, visions, and vivid reckonings that shatter that long-held mold and ask: what if Maria Clara’s story had been her own? What if ours still can be?
This issue brings to light the complexities and contradictions of womanhood, reclamation of power, and resistance against patriarchal systems, reminding that Maria Clara lives on, not as a relic of the past, but as every woman who dares to define herself.
