Golden Guardians concluded their NAASCU women’s volleyball campaign with a straight-set loss to the University of Makati (UMAK) Lady Herons, 0–3, on June 17 at the Guadalupe Nuevo Gym.
Despite the loss, the Golden Guardians put up a strong fight, keeping the scores close in all three sets in a tightly contested matchup.
Opening the first set, both sides delivered aggressive serves, sharp attacks, and tight defense in a battle of equal footing. HAU stayed within striking distance but ultimately dropped the set, 22–25.
Momentum continued in the second set as both teams traded blows in a tense exchange that stretched into extended deuce. UMAK managed to snatch the final two points, edging out HAU, 28–26.
Down by two sets, the Golden Guardians rallied with determination and carved out an almost-comeback. However, the Lady Herons’ relentless attacks and unwavering grit sealed the deal, closing the match at 25–20.
With a slate of three wins and five losses, the HAU women’s volleyball team has wrapped up their tournament run against Manila-based universities.
Meanwhile, HAU’s men’s volleyball team remains in contention as tournament play continues.
