Three HAU track and field athletes capped their strong performance at the 4th United Central Invitational Track Meet 2025 with a 1-1-2 medal haul — gold, silver, and two bronze.

Competing in shot put and discus events held on June 7-8, Sebastian Soriano, Annette Tolentino, and Vianca Naluz represented HAU against 32 universities and organizations across Central Luzon.

Soriano, a sophomore from the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management (SHTM), dominated the shot put with a 10.71-meter throw, bagging gold. He followed it up with a 31.18-meter throw in discus to snag bronze — displaying his range in track and field.

In an interview, despite clinching gold, he admitted he “fell short of his personal best” but expressed contentment with his performance in the event.

“Buti nalang po sa tulong ni Lord, binigyan niya pa rin po ako ng pagkakataon para masungkit ang gintong medalya,” the gold medalist said.

Meanwhile, Tolentino, a third-year BS Criminology student, claimed silver in the women’s shot put after a solid 7.88-meter performance. Despite missing the podium in discus, she described the overall experience as “challenging yet fulfilling.”

“I know I did my best and I know where to improve and focus more on my performance,” Tolentino shared.

In the women’s discus event, Naluz, a third-year SHTM student, secured a bronze with a 20.64-meter throw and narrowly missed a medal in shot put.

Post-competition, she expressed her pride as she recounted the experience, following her close finish in the shot put.

“I felt proud of how I bounced back from such a close miss — that experience taught me that giving it another shot matters just as much as winning,” she stated. 

The three athletes now set their sights on upcoming competitions, including the weekly relay series organized by the Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association in July, and the MILO National Marathon later this year.
