>>> This is TES, Welcome.
TES: Hello, Alaya. What can I do for you today?
>>> what is art?
TES: What a profound question! Here is the answer.
Art is the creation or expression of something coming from human creativity and skill. To define something as art, it should be human-made containing the elements of art and exude emotions within oneself.
Do you want me to elaborate more or give examples of art? Would you also like me to create an artwork for you to give an example? Do let me know! 😊
Thought for 1 second.
>>> give me a flash fiction literature about art
TES: Certainly, here is a flash fiction entitled, “The Last Speech.”
The Last Speech
Manuel has known this since he picked up a pencil. He remembers how his first squiggly lines made his mother happy when he was just only 2 years old. Since then, he was known as a prodigy—an artist born to create great things.
For him, one thing is only close to his heart, a mantra he always holds whenever he touches the canvas, or the sketchpad, or even the trash he recycles to make art: “Do it, even if it’s hard, as long as you learn.” It is the young Manuel speaking where it all starts with a messy squiggly line, the thought that makes it count, and the will to learn to create.
Manuel regarded his craft with the utmost pride and care. “Art is the language of the heart,” Manuel always says for every speech he has held for young artists to be inspired. Because in him, in that passion he carried for so long in his craft, art becomes powerful when used to speak to others, to show a reality, and to tell a story.
“Art is the power when everything becomes so rigid and synthetic: where art preserves—showing an essence truly of what the subject is and what we truly are as creators,” Manuel reminded, when they first unveiled it.
It was a grandeur no one else expected. Detailed, precise, accurate, and… original—never before seen.
“I am Arta, your art companion, ready to make any artwork you like. Because with me, everyone’s an artist!”
A machine, yet gentle voice said, plastered on a cute, friendly avatar. Manuel looked back. It was as if he stared at a better, more improved version of himself, of every artist who ever lived. He saw the future, a future where art is free and is made easily by every person. Well, isn’t that what art truly means?
Manuel stood up straight, cleared his throat and spoke. For the last time.
“Before I end, I would like to share with everyone something that I kept close to my heart, a fear I chose to hide because I thought it would never happen, but,” Manuel spoke with a distinctive vulnerability within an authoritative voice.
He glanced at Arta, then he asked a question.
“What is art?”
Arta thought for a second. “Art is the creation or expression of something coming from human creativity and skill. To define something as art, it should be human-made containing the elements of art and exude emotions within oneself…”
“Stop,” shouted Manuel. “You don’t know what it is, at all.”
“You don’t create, you don’t think, you are not even a human. What you say is art isn’t, it’s replicated, mashed-up: a stolen coagulation from the works of art made with a heart. It’s a disrespect to me and every other person like me who ever lived, even to a child who is just starting to hold their pencil—you just disregard us all.”
Manuel faced the audience who were silenced by his words, “Arta may help you create art, or even create art for you, but always remember it will never be that. You are playing a dangerous game. And soon, it will come to a day where you will lose that one thing, that one thing that the power of art holds, and now will try to carry.” Manuel hitches a breath.
“Who you are.”
I hope you enjoyed reading this! Let me know if you want to make a longer story chapter or another flash fiction about another subject. Do let me know! 😄
