Despite mounting a comeback, the HAU Golden Guardians’ wave fizzled as the Philippine Christian University (PCU) Dolphins splashed through for a 3 – 2 victory in a manic women’s volleyball match of NAASCU’s 23rd season at the PCU Manila Gymnasium, March 21.

HAU struggled in the first set as PCU’s attacks rippled through their defense which allowed the PCU to take the lead, 14 – 25. The Golden Guardians, however, did not back down and came back strong in the next two sets — fighting off PCU in the next two sets of 25 – 23 and 25 – 22.

Under the PCU roof, the Golden Guardians could not match the Dolphins’ pace in the final two sets and eventually bowed to the Dolphins in a 16 – 25, 13 – 25 homecourt victory.

As of writing, HAU holds a 1 – 2 win-loss record in NAASCU women’s volleyball. They are set to face the St. Clare College Saints on March 27. Meanwhile, the men’s volleyball team will take on the New Era University Hunters on the same day.
